Scientists at University of Illinois have created a new solar cell that produces energy from sunlight and CO2. Like plants, this is a form of photosynthesis. Unlike plants, this solar cell produces a fuel called "syngas" which can be burned directly or converted into something like diesel. This means no more need for batteries! Potentially solar farms of this type could put fossil fuels out of business. https://news.uic.edu/breakthrough-solar-cell-captures-co2-and-sunlight-produces-burnable-fuel
