Ontario had an 80% increase in the number of rabies cases in 2016. https://www.ontario.ca/page/rabies-caseshttp://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/mobile/288-confirmed-cases-of-rabies-in-ontario-in-2016-1.3255224  The ongoing outbreak has a very wide range with racoons testing postive in Hamilton as well as London and to cattle in Listowel testing positive. http://www.570news.com/2017/03/23/fifth-case-cow-rabies-confirmed-perth-county/ In April, MNRF will begin bait dropping in hotspot areas. Already in 2018, three new reported cases of fox strain rabies were found in Waterloo Region. This outbreak is unrelated to Hamilton's raccoon strain rabies which entered the Region last year.
