The ongoing outbreak has a very wide range with racoons testing postive in Hamilton as well as London and to cattle in Listowel testing positive.

Already in 2018, three new reported cases of fox strain rabies were found in Waterloo Region. This outbreak is unrelated to Hamilton's raccoon strain rabies which entered the Region last year.
