[face=Verdana][/face]Hi, I'm new here, my name is Chubs.  I'd like to discuss BABY DIAPERS.  How long have diapers (disposable) been around?  At least 30 years?  I think?  Well, it's been a long time.  My question is, why have they not improved at all?  They DO NOT hold babies' poo in!  I just wish we could find some decent diapers.  We've tried lots.....

The first modern disposable diaper was produced in 1947 out of mostly tissue paper surrounded by a plastic film, and was considered a luxury item.  Although people have been putting diapers on babies for, well, as long as there's been civilizations.  Ancient Romans, Aztecs, etc.

I'd say diapers have improved.  But I guess just not enough.

Thanks for the info.  Diapers are really convenient for sure.  I guess with all the different baby shapes and levels of baby activity, standard styles do not work for all.  It just seems that other things' designs are constantly evolving, everything except the diaper!  What would I change?   For the most part, the elastics around the legs are pretty good, unless your baby likes to kick a lot (like mine).  There would have to be some kind of extra flap or something for the back.  I've thought about it, but I do not know what would work.

I've heard positive comments for Huggies baby shaped diapers and Pampers custom fit cruisers.

Perhaps, you could use an old fashion plastic panty over the diaper to help contain the leakage.

Thanks Chiquita, we've tried the Huggies and Pampers, our baby is so wiggly!  The Costco brand is like the Huggies, and they're pretty good.  But when it comes to the back, it just shoots out.  Not sure if the rubber pants will contain that either. I can see them keeping the legs sealed, but likely not the back.  This is just part of having a baby.  We are lucky that that is our biggest and really only problem!  We are so thankful.

Sorry for the inside joke, but maybe what Hawkeye needs is an inner-tube.

YAY!!!  We've found a diaper that doesn't leak up the back nor the legs!!!  They're called, "Parents' Choice".  They have Baby Garfield and Odie on them.  Very cute.  AND.....................they're $5 to $6 cheaper than Huggies and Pampers.  The back is gathered elasticy, unlike Huggies and Pampers which just had an open flap with extra material.  And the leg elastic is finer, thinner and double, they are so much better.  We haven't had an accident yet, and holy macaroni, we've had some HUGE poos!  Not even a pee leak.  Very happy.
