I'm praying Ottawa can make it past the first round. IF they can, I think they can make it to the finals (where they will lose to Detroit). On the other hand, if Edmonton keeps it up, maybe... MAYBE they can make it past the first round and eliminate the damned Red Wings. And I can't I am supporting the Avs, but ANY team that faces the Stars is tops in my book for that round at least (I do not like the Avs.. so it is saying a LOT that I support THEM over Dallas.). Oh and since I was a Canadians fan before I was a Sens fan I was very VERY pleased to see them take the series lead 2-0 in away games!!! Oh god if they can eliminate the Canes that would be soo soo sweet!
But in my hockey pool before any games were played I had Ottawa/Detroit (with the assumption Detroit would take it) and I had Jersey and Calgary going far too.. so I suppose those are the ones I thought would make it far enough to get me the points I needed to win the pool!! And some one offs I took (bleh!) Dallas.. but as much as I don't like em, I think they got some damned good players.
Hahahaha.... so I guess you were happy with last night's game then? What a crap goal it was on the Cane's part. Before liking Ottawa I was a Montreal fan, so naturally I still support them. But I'll be happy if ANY Canadian team beats any American team!
I was happy, because I HATE MONTREAL! I cheer for Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, the leafs, every american team, then montreal... in that order... and I don't cheer for american teams ever.
Montreal is like the yankees in baseball, I do not like a team that has won the championship so many times... The nordiques I didn't mind them so much...
Well I like all the Cdn teams but my order of pref is: Ottawa Edmonton Montreal/Calgary Vancouver Toronto
There are some Yankee teams I might cheer for against the Leafs unless it meant the Stanley Cup.. it is a Cdn possesion and should under NO REASON be permitted to leave the country during the off season.
In truth if all Cdn teams are elimated I am happy if Dallas is defeated first, Colorado next and then the Mighty Ducks.
Yah I wouldn't miss him too much. Oh and Hitler. We all know he's living the high life off in Cuba or Siberia or something.
Actually in an unfortunate moment on Wednesday I noticed the one service manager at our meeting in Sudbury struck an alarming resemblance to Adolf himself. He was short-ish, and thin.. had the hiltter-hairdo and had a mustache that wasn't quite narrow enough to be a hitler-stache, but wasn't the full width of the upper lip either. Every time this guy spoke I felt like I should raise my hand high up in the air. I can imagine a conservative group like GM dealers probably would have found the humour in that, right? Right?
I hope Calgary can beat Anaheim but I have a bad feeling that they won't.
I am so happy that my top two teams made it to the next round though! Oh my it would be hard to cheer if the final game came down to the Oilers vs the Sens... being an under-dogger I would be tempted to cheer for the Oilers but I want my Sens to get the ring they've been working so hard over the past many years to acheive.
Whatever happens I DO hope Colorado gets eliminated. It ain't likey (they are my new cup contender unfortunately) but I'll keep my fingers crossed anyhow.
WOOOOHOOO Since Carolina won I won the office pool! $42.50 for me and $42.50 for the charity of my choice! BTW I picked detroit to beat Carolina in the finals, but on points I was better than anyone else.
Well, i'm beginning to think that the government needs to step in and regulate violence in sports and the violent acts should have enforced/painful repercussions in the crimanal justice system to individuals who cannot use common sense. In a recent minor (8 year olds) hockey league game in guelph a brawl broke out and the coaches encouraged players on the bench to go on the ice and join in the action.
I watched the vidio of that fight... it was pretty tame actually. You watch the two little kids fighting and then suddenly they stop and skate away. The adults hover, are a different story.
