Former independent MP from British Columbia, Chuck Cadman, was the single most powerful MP in the previous minority liberal government during 2005.  You might remember the big budget vote while Paul Martin was leader, that literally came down to how Cadman voted.  If he voted with the liberals, the minority government would continue.  If he sided with the Conservatives, an election would be called.  A new book about Chuck Cadman is soon to be released, and in it Harper is accused of bribing the MP to gain his favour before the all-important vote.  Harper denies it, of course, but he was caught on tape!  (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/080228/national/harper_cadman_offer)   So much for the high moral standards they supposedly hold dear.  This is an offense in the Criminal Code and the RCMP will be investigating.
