Waaaay back, in 1998 - 99 (somewhere in there), Hawkeye and I got an idea for an online game for your web browser that was an homage to the great conquest games back in the BBS days.  Ol' Hawk wrote up some specs for what should be in the game, I started prototyping, and even made the Galactic Empire page in the Games menu of this site.  Then it sat shelved for a long time.  I've recently gotten back into it, and now phase 1 is operational!
The game server is running, including the real time chat system, which you can access from the front page.  Just log in to Galactic Overlord Chat with a name to identify yourself, and you're in.  This is the same chat system that players will be accessing in the game, so you can chat with people in the game without having to play yourself, or see news broadcasts of game events.
