Over on Yahoo Answers, Mike Holmes (yes, the real Mike Holmes from "Holmes on Homes") wants your input on how to change the industry. (http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/qu.....0080618132021AAtWjz7) The most common request Mike gets starts with buying a house and finding surprises. That's why he's targeted the Home Inspection field as a key place to encourage change.
From interviews, Mike has stated his end goal is make professionals accountable for their services, even if it costs a little bit more for the customer. Right now, if you buy a house and find something wrong with it, is the seller liable? No. Is the Home Inspector who you paid to inspect it before you bought it liable? No. It's buyer beware, and it's not working.
