Stargate is dead.  Long live Stargate!  Although SG-1 has been relegated to straight-to-dvd movies ("Continuum" was fantastic!) and Atlantis is supposedly done this season, a third series has been given the green light.  The go-ahead for "Stargate Universe" was given Aug 22 and is scheduled to premiere in 2009 with a two-hour pilot.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargate_Universe)

From what is known, the show will be more like Star Trek than Stargate, since the team will be stuck aboard an Ancient vessel called "Destiny", part of an Ancient experiment to seed other galaxies with Stargates.

I really hope they get back into exploration and character development, rather than foe-of-the-season.  Actually, scrap that.  I just hope it's not another Voyager!
