TV networks have once again denied the Green Party's request to join in the television debates.  (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/080908/national/fedelxn_debate_greens).  The reason?
Quoted Text
...one or more of the other party leaders would refuse to participate in the debates on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 if May took part.
In the interest of Canadians, the consortium has determined that it is better to broadcast the debates with the four major party leaders, rather than not at all.

and further down in the article:
Quoted Text
Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Monday that letting May into the debate would be in essence allowing a second Liberal candidate to participate.
He said it would be fundamentally unfair to have two candidates who are essentially running on the same platform in the debate.

Give me a break!  One is Liberal, one is Green.  Just because they happen to agree that the environment is important doesn't make them the same.  That's just one issue!  By that logic, we could only have two leaders at the debate, and they aren't allowed to agree on anything.  Anything!
The Green Party has an MP in the House and according to recent polls, the party has about the same support as the Bloc Quebecois. You can sign a petition here:http://demanddemocraticdebates.ca/
