Now that Harper has prorogued government, and there are no restrictions on his actions beyond things that require a house vote, he is free to behave like a majority government.  One of the first things he's decided to do is begin filling empty Senate seats with Conservatives.  (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/081211/national/harper_senate)

Harper has named Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin to the Senate, among others.  http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/12/22/senate-harper.html.  Mike Duffy has been called Canada's Rush Limbaugh, and has even been called out by Elizabeth May as a Shill for the Conservatives.  http://scottdiatribe.gluemeat......r-being-a-con-shill/.

Harper explained in a Press Release:
Quoted Text
If Senate vacancies are to be filled … they should be filled by the government that Canadians elected rather than by a coalition that no one voted for

What, no one voted for all those MPs that outnumber the conservative MPs?  Man, my math must really suck.
