So I've tried out the Red Bull Air Race in Playstation Home. It took me longer to figure out how to get on a plane than to actually race one. It's all time trial, so you don't actually race other players. I'm curious if the planes flying overhead as you walk around are real racers, or just put there for effect. The goal is to fly your plane through checkpoint rings, which is pretty straightforward. The hard part is doing it as fast as you can. To keep it difficult, some rings have a "ghost" image of the plane in the middle. You have to match the angle of the plane as you pass through the ring! I still can't match anything other than perfectly horizontal. You'll know by the sound effect if you got it or not. Although this addition doesn't save Home from overall dullness, it opens the door for more sponsor based games for Home denizens to play. In the weeks since it's launch, Home has really thinned out. I went to check out the arcade machines and they were mostly empty. I could actually play a couple games! I wonder if Sony will continue to add content and loosen up a bit on the sterility, or if they will ultimate drop it as a failed experiment. |
