Since the weather was nice today, I decided to go out for a ride on my e-bike. I headed down to the trail towards Wilson park, as there's a hill there my bike had trouble getting up last year. Since I'm carrying less weight these days, thought I'd give it a shot. I got stopped by a by-law officer at the head of the trail. He said City of Kitchener was not allowing motorized vehicles of any kind on the trails, and that there was a by-law in place. I thanked him and turned around. At least he didn't write me a ticket. For any interested, here's the Kitchener by-laws: http://www.kitchener.ca/city_hall/departments/corp_services/bylaw_enforcement/traffic_bylaw.html I believe the relevant portion is Part IV:1.a)(i), since by their definition an e-bike counts as "Motor Assisted vehicle".
