If you were stupid enough to hack your PS3 and connect it to PSN, you could likely be looking at a message like this next time you log in: "You cannot use Playstation(R) Network with this account".
Sony has begun permanently banning accounts that have been identified to be using a hacked PS3.  Since you can copy (unprotected) game saves to another account, and new accounts are pretty easy to make, this doesn't amount to much pain.  However, in addition to the Game Save Cloud feature which locks your saves to your account, I expect Sony to step up the validation required for new accounts.

Karma is biting Sony in the a**.  Back when they removed the OtherOS function, a class action lawsuit was filed against them under (among other things) The Computer Fraud And Abuse Act.  Note, this is the very same law Sony is using against hackers such as GeoHot.  In latest news, the judge for the class action suit dismissed everything but that particular violation, but with the right to amend.  Apparently what that right means is that the plaintiffs are allowed to take steps to remedy the violation (in this case, the removal of OtherOS).  This essentially justifies hacking as a way to reclaim lost functionality.  http://www.ps3-hacks.com/2011/02/22/sony-otheros-and-the-computer-fraud-abuse-act/#disqus_thread
So, if Sony wins against GeoHot, they lose the class action for precisely the same reason.
