The most "American made" car sold in the U.S. is apparently the Toyota Camry, according to the 2010 Cars.com American-Made Index.
Runner up? The Honda Accord.
The Cars.com survey factors in where the car's parts come from, where the car is assembled, as well as sales. Any car with a domestic parts content rating below 75 per cent is disqualified, as are models soon to be discontinued without a U.S.-built successor.
The Camry, for example, is built in Gerogetown, Ky. and Lafayette, Ind. and the vast majority of its parts come from domestic sources. Not including the hybrid models, the Camry managed to take the top spot on the list in 2009 when it dethroned the Ford F-150.
The highest rated cars from a company founded in America, are the Ford Escape and Ford Focus which come in third and fourth respectively.
