About a year ago we got an awesome trailer for a new Mortal Kombat movie, starring Jeri Ryan and Michael Jai White.  It turns out this is a series, and you can watch episode one on YouTube right now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s6UiEuCYXA&feature=player_embedded
In some ways this is an origin story, showing how various characters from the game came to be.  This is certainly the case in episode one which stars a pre-cybernetic Kano.  However, if you remember the trailer (http://youtu.be/hy2CGY4c55k) we were treated to Jonny Cage's death.  So the series does take some liberties.

Episode Five: http://youtu.be/e4QRSbf9H5M  Unfortunately I think the series is falling well below expectations.  The first few episodes held promise, that it would in fact be as good as last year's trailer, but these latest episodes are a little too "fantastic".

I would have enjoyed the series more had it been grounded in "reality".
