Stupid is as stupid does. Recent Shell gas shortages have "experts" calling for the Canadian Government to relax on the sulphur gasoline regulations to allow them to import sulphur rich gasoline from other countries without having to do extra "needless" refining. http://www.therecord.com/news/.....he-norm-experts-warn Sulphur was limited b/c (1) it really really stinks, (2) it is highly corrosive (ie ruins your car's valves and its vapour pits surfaces quickly),(4) it causes permanent lung impairment, eye damage, and cancers http://toxtown.nlm.nih.gov/text_version/chemicals.php?id=29, and (5)it is a key component of climate change and that long forgot environmental problem called acid rain. What possible reason could the Canadian Government have for restricting its levels? Shame on them for hurting corporations bottom line by protecting the Canadian public. Gasoline shortage is corporate spin and doing. Canada exports enough fuel to US that would sustain our own country and imports in more costly fuel from the Middle East. Maybe it is time Canadian Government adds one more regulation..don't export out until our own countries needs are met. |
