Meek's Cutoff (MC) examines the hardships of several pioneer women crossing the western frontier with their families and only a guide to show them on their way. MC does an excellent job of depicting the isolating, drudging, and suffocatiing aspects of the daily lives of the women. I like the stark realism of the film but the story never progressively evolved enough to feel like a complete story and you are left feeling completely cheated. Actually, I am not sure it evolved enough to say there was a progression. 3.5/10 and 6/10 for sound effects guy for the super duper annoying wagon wheel sounds and adding effects like making the mens' conversations more difficult to hear from the perspective of the women. |
