Meek's Cutoff (MC) examines the hardships of several pioneer women crossing the western frontier with their families and only a guide to show them on their way. MC does an excellent job of depicting the isolating, drudging, and suffocatiing aspects of the daily lives of the women. I like the stark realism of the film but the story never progressively evolved enough to feel like a complete story and you are left feeling completely cheated. Actually, I am not sure it evolved enough to say there was a progression.

3.5/10

and

6/10 for sound effects guy for the super duper annoying wagon wheel sounds and adding effects like making the mens' conversations more difficult to hear from the perspective of the women.

It certainly is one of those Avant Garde artsy movies with no resolution.  Kind of a "moment in time" picture.  See what it's like to be one of these ladies, but don't get too involved cuz we're not going to continue the story.
