It seems LinkedIn is following Facebook's example, by sharing your private profile information with advertisers, and allowing your name and photo to appear in 3rd party advertisements to other LinkedIn members in your network.
Fortunately, there are preferences settings you can change to prevent that.  The linked article explains how.  It seems they are of the "opt-out" flavour, also like Facebook.
