EA continues to milk their customers by adding an expiry date to purchased games.
I worry the gaming industry is heading for a big shift; the drive to kill used games, downloadable content that would've been released with the game but now costs extra, micro-transactions that make free-to-play games cost more than buying it outright, DRM that requires a server connection to authorize game play (and ceases when support ends), and now outright expiry dates.
Might have to go back to playing on the Playstation 2.

Update: EA issued the following statement: "Rock Band for iOS will remain live - the in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error. We apologize for the confusion this caused. We're working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible."

Hawkeye adds (via Darkshade Chat) that EA has taken to regularly expiring online access codes, so that you have to rebuy them (usually at about $10 a pop) every so often.

EA will definitely not be getting any more of my business.  Are regular "activation codes" next?  A lot of people don't care about online multiplayer, so this is how the companies can snare them too.

BTW, the Rock Band game that spawned this thread was for iOS devices.
