Disney already owns ESPN, Pixar, Marvel, ABC, and now is purchasing Lucasfilm for about $4 Billion. http://thewaltdisneycompany.com/disney-news/press-releases/2012/10/disney-acquire-lucasfilm-ltd

Together they plan to release Star Wars Episode 7 in 2015.  If they put the same quality of work behind it as they did for Avengers, it would make Star Wars movies worth watching again!

So the same guy is doing Star Trek and Star Wars?  Isn't that against the law or something?

Not sure whether I should be hopeful about this or not.  On one hand, it could completely ruin everything that made the Star Wars of my childhood special.  On teh other hand, Lucas has already done that.  Can't argue that there's a lot of untapped potential there, though the existing movies tell about the keystone events of the story, so it should be interesting to see how they make new side stories relevant and exciting.
