What happens when Netflix crosses Jellyvision's "You Don't Know Jack" with Apple's iTunes Genius?  You get Max, the moving scoring, preference profiling, entertainment suggestion system for PS3.  Yes, it's only for the PS3.

Like other recommender systems out there, Max is taking your opinions and cross referencing them with the opinions of other users.  From there Max can use Machine Learning techniques to determine how much you'll like things you may not have seen, based on how people with similar tastes enjoyed them.  This all gets wrapped up in the "You Don't Know Jack" attitude to make Max as easy and fun to use as possible.

Frankly I think this is just what Netflix needed.  I've wasted too much time navigating their system looking for something interesting to watch, and their usual "recommended" viewing list it either stuff I've already seen or completely uninteresting.  Max's feedback options will make both of those problems go away.
