Ever want that perfect guitar sound to play your favourite song?  Ever want a single unit to play your backing track and guitar together?  Ever want a bluetooth speaker powerful enough to drown out your neighbours?

Line 6 has you covered, with AMPLiFi.

I picked up this amp on the weekend from Long & McQuade.  There's two models, the AMPLiFi 75 and the AMPLiFi 150.  The number is the wattage, so I went with the bigger one.  It's also about 50% larger than the 75 and has stronger bass.

As an amp, it's straightforward.  Just plug in your guitar and play.  There's knobs to adjust the various tonal qualities, and 4 presets you can switch between with the push of a button.

But it's also a bluetooth speaker.  Push the bluetooth button, connect your computer or mobile device, and now you can play your music through it.  It still functions as an amp, so you can play along with the guitar.  The sound is clear and full, with 5 speakers in the cabinet.

But it also has an app.  Using an iPad or iPhone, you can completely reconfigure this amp into any sound.  Mix and match virtual amps and headers, stomp boxes and effects, and adjust every variable on the equipment.  Even better, if you don't want to fuss with the settings, just pick a song with the sound you want!  The app will match it to configurations chosen by other users to sound good together.  Think it needs a little more crunch?  Tweak those settings and publish your own configuration with the touch of a button.

The Good: Loud and clear.  Doesn't bottom out or muffle.  The sound matching feature is fantastic.
The Bad: The app is currently only for iOS7 devices.  For everything else, it's just an amp + bluetooth speaker
The Ugly: No easy way to record from it.  Either mic the amp in stereo, or use the headphones as a line-out (which disengages the speaker audio)

There's a USB port on the back, for future use.. maybe as a digital recording option?  No idea.  The thing is firmware upgradable, so there's more features to come.
