Canadian Supreme Court has ruled in favour of doctor assisted suicide.  In the case where a competent patient no longer wishes to endure a terminal illness or disease, they can finally choose to end their life in a safe and humane way.  I think the court puts it best by pointing out the Charter grants a "right to life" not a "duty to live".
