I'll be the first to admit I didn't get Buffy. It is like a bad knock off of Scooby Doo style caper with mutant fugly vampires and 90210sh girls. Season 1 was was just plain bad so lets just skip by it.

Buffy should have ended with the last episode of Season 5 with her rotting in her grave - dead dead.  Buffy has essentially defeated a "god" like being  named Glory, turned a love-hate relationship with Spike into a weapon for getting rid of her ex Riley, and saved Dawn by throwing herself off a tower. What is really left for a girl to do?

I agree that was a natural end to the series, and after that it kind of lost its way.  There were some great episodes in the following seasons, but the seasons as a whole were less engaging than it had been up to that point.
