WOW!  That is cool!  I hope that the bag system is working.  I have an issue where one slot is not being filled at all!  And I have another bag but it does not automatically fill up when the main bag is full.  All that aside  I will be able to tame a beast!!!!  Look out Horde here comes the darkness!!!

I have had the same prob with bags not auto-filling.  Well I only have one bag, but I must ensure I see that it is full or not before NOT picking something up.

But , if the Horde fears anything it's what comes from the darkness where the sun don't shine!  Diddles should add a night-elf long range weapon just for you called the spicey chicken... you would have to be facing away from your enemies to emply it but it would be instant death!

New upgrade. Sweet. It'll be nice to have things feel more stable.

Good job dood. Keep up the good work!

It'll take a few more nights before this happens.  Testing the new server tonight, I felt things were more unstable than the server we're currently running.  So while there may be some benefit to upgrading, I wonder how many new problems we're taking on.  I'm going to wait a bit to see if others in the community are noticing the same problems and how they are fixing them.

Ahhh regression.  I believe it's a polish dance. 1 step forward 2 steps back.

Good news!  The new server is in place (you will have noticed if you tried connecting to it with your current client.  :) )

One thing to note, when you first log into the server, you will be invisible.  Press "c" or bring up your character stats to become visible again.  (You aren't invisible to npc's, btw.  Just your character isn't rendering).  From that point on you'll be fine.

Do we have to download anything to play on the server or does the server just update us automatically.
Posted by: Trarman (Guest), March 10, 2006, 1:55pm; Reply: 8
You have to follow the instructions on this web site.  Start at step 2 since you've already been playing on Diddlycraft.

How big are these files???
Posted by: Trarman (Guest), March 10, 2006, 9:05pm; Reply: 10
The 1.9.0 patch is 300 Megs.  The 1.9.3 patch is 24 Megs.  The rest are all piddly little 1 meggers.

Note, that the wow-1.9x patches are the same you would've downloaded from the Blizzard servers automatically.

Well I downloaded all the patches and installed them and installed the hack client thing and unzipped the addons.

When I log into the server all the NPC's and MONSTERS are missing. I don't see anything, I seem to be the only one in the entire world. My character is NOT invisible when I log in so I'm wondering if everyone else IS. I keep logging in and out and it seems that if I logout while OUTSIDE then when i log back in I can see the npc's that are within that small area. (Some of them anyways). If I logout while inside a building then I can't see anyone... weird!

Instances also have the same problem.

Its a bummer cause I was looking forward to seeing how good these drop rates are, but since there isn't a moster in sight I have no idea. :P

That is very strange!

I will take a look at that later tonight when I get home.  Hmmm.. now that I think of it, my Tauren didn't see any npc's in Brill either.  But Diddly definitely saw npc's in Darkshore.

It seems everything is starting to appear in the world again, maybe it just took a while for the server to catch up or something with the new patch.

Anyways the drops are crazy. One kill fills my entire inventory. Still no blue items though... :(...

Anyways, even though the drops are cool there is a major problem with it. YOU CANT SELL ANY OF THE ITEMS. When you go to sell any armor or weapons it says "You can't sell soulbound items."

So yah, thats extremely annoying. Some good things though, looks like there is a lot of NEW stuff that is working that wasn't before, quests,  NPCs with INFO to tell you, npcs that didn't exist before and should have. Restrictions on profession stuff. Also most importantly the ELITE monsters are much more manageable now. You actually damage them the way you would expect, they are still much tougher than the other normal monsters but they aren't godlike anymore. And they use spells and stuff on you which they also never did. So thats good. Oh.. and killing them gives you GOOD XP rather than the 100 I would get from killing a lvl 21 elite, now I get 1100XP. Much more satisfying. :)

True, right clicking a soul binding object doesn't work any more.  But you CAN sell 'em if you drag them across to the merchant's window.

Glad to see there's some improvements on this server though.  Someone will have to test the Tame functions now, see if they work.

Okay a hole new ball of problems now. I logged in again to try the dragging to sell items thing you said but now I can't talk to anyone. The icon to talk to NPC people shows up but right clicking them does nothing. Logged off and on many times didn't seem to go away.

So I created a new character just to see if it had the same problems. Created a night elf and he wouldn't show up, I opened the character screen and my character still didn't show up. Also my skills/spells and some items in my bag (for night elf) all show as (?) mark. So yah, he has his own issues I guess. Couldn't find anyone to try to talk to them.

Also both characters show up in my character selection screen naked. Which is different from this afternoon (5:00 ish) when I first tried.

When i log on, my character is invisible, I try to hit c and nothing happens.  In fact, ALL my stuff that I had equiped is gone!  As well my bags where formerly I had things now show up as red '?'.  I'm still level 19, but i have nothing.  And there are no npc's or monsters around.

Grrr...  the tool that was provided to adjust the loot levels just ended up zeroing three key files (which is why your character is invisible, naked in the character screen, and carrying nothing).

I'm stopping the server right now to restore those files.  I'll also try using a loot template from a similar server, hopefully that takes care of the huge drops too.

Okay, that stuff is fixed.  The drops are back to normal (not crazy huge).  But the XP for kills still seems a little high.  I'll leave it high for a while, to make up for the down time (or messed up time) lately.  :)

OKay things are seeming to be back to a working state. So thats really good. Thanks for the support Trarman!

Another thing I just noticed is that most vendors cannot repair your equipment anymore. I was just in Crossroads and no one there was able to repair my equipment. The button was missing. On my way to thunderbluff to see if someone there can. :)

The Stable Master in crossroads can repair your equipment.
Posted by: Hawkeye, March 12, 2006, 2:36pm; Reply: 21
Stable masters anywhere?  Or just in crossroads, because i encountered the same problem.  Plus I too discovered anything in you pick up that's green labelled or above you can't sell.
Posted by: Trarman (Guest), March 12, 2006, 9:14pm; Reply: 22
I was able to sell green and blue items by dragging across to the merchant window.

And I just meant the stablemaster in Crossroads.  I haven't been to too many places since the new version.
Posted by: 28 (Guest), March 13, 2006, 12:39pm; Reply: 23
Since your post about the stable master I just keep going striaght to them when I get into any town or outpost and they all seem to be able to fix my stuff. The only person I've found that can do it is someone labeled "Armorer".  Wow... back up. You had a blue item? Where did you get that? Did you find it or given for a quest?
Posted by: Trarman (Guest), March 13, 2006, 12:59pm; Reply: 24
This was from when loot drops were huge a couple days ago.  Heck, even a squirrel dropped blue items.  But I was able to sell them by dragging them across to the merchant window.  Right clicking gave the warning "Can't trade soulbound items"

If that doesn't work for you, then maybe it had something to do with being the GM at the time (I don't normally test with my normal character).  I don't see why that would make a difference, since I was just a level 60 character... nothing special about the character.

Click and Drag items (armor and weapons) to sell them. It works just takes a lot longer to sell everything. Right click still works on materials and potions, food that kind of junk.

That's good.  But another problem with repairing items.  It seems I can't repair anything that's unique, ie green.

As well Rut'theran village, well there's no one there I can't get over to the main part of the continent as there is no flight person!

Hmm..  yes I spotted that the other day.  There's not even a spawn point for that guy.  I waited for a ship, but none came.  I had hoped you and Shabadu were both on the mainland so that it wouldn't be an issue, cuz creating an npc that triggers flying is way tougher than just creating something for you to fight.

In Darnassus, under the big pillarred gateway (the warriors quarter) is a portal somewhere.  See if you can use that to get off the island.
Posted by: Hawkeye, March 14, 2006, 11:45am; Reply: 28
I will look for that portal, but hopefully it is nowhere near that human that killed me so many times.  I hope he's no longer red to me.

I still go to darnassus quite a bit, because well, there is a stablemaster there and all the things I need to buy are there.  Plus, hunter trainers etc.  It is still very much an important area for my character.
Posted by: 28 (Guest), March 14, 2006, 1:40pm; Reply: 29
The portals work good, if they are present. It would be nice if there was a portal to return you to where you came from as well.

I only say this cause the last couple times I've tried to travel across the sea by boat or zeppelin it gets "stuck". It flies/floats fine until the other half of the world loads. Then it gets stuck under the land somewhere. It just sits there under the world (the boat got me stuck somewhere in the middle of the alliance world and just off the east coast. I was taking the boat from Ratchet to BootyBay. Well if you look at your map the middle of the allience island on the east coast is no where near booty bay.

In regards to repairing green items. My characters wears predominantly green items and the repair doods always repair everything. So maybe its just an alliance thing.

I even tried to repair the green items individually, but that doesn't work either.

I finally downloaded the updates but now there is nothing in the world.. no people, no monsters, no nothing... what up?  Did I do something wrong??
Posted by: Trarman (Guest), March 15, 2006, 7:29pm; Reply: 32
In all the world?  Wow, you explore fast.

Since the rest of us are seeing people, monsters, and stuff, then I can pretty safely assume you did something wrong, or you only looked in a spot where there actually was nothing to see.

Follow the installation instructions again.  To be thorough, start at step 1 and proceed as if you've been playing on the pay servers.  To be quick (but less chance of success), just delete the contents of the AddOns directory and start at step 8.
Posted by: Shabadu_SMH, March 15, 2006, 8:36pm; Reply: 33
Huh.. tried redoing them all and still no one in the world (okay no one in Dolanaar or the immediate surrounding area... and some of my skills (like find herbs) won't set.. dammit.. this is really pissing me off...

Admitedly I only tried from step 2 because as I seem to recall step one took me 5oo,00 years to download and install and I really don't want to do that again...

Stupid game...
Posted by: Hawkeye, March 16, 2006, 9:41am; Reply: 34
Didn't you keep those files on your hard drive?
Posted by: Shabadu_SMH, March 19, 2006, 9:09pm; Reply: 35
I did keep them all.. but apprently I must have deleted the ONE big one.. sigh.. I tried the complete re-install too and still coming up with an empty realm...
I was gone for the weekend (up in Ottawa for the Sens/Sabres game) so I haven't hada chance to check it all out in depth (as in depth as I get at least) but if I can't get it working soon I'm just gonna give up...
Posted by: Trarman (Guest), March 20, 2006, 3:10am; Reply: 36
I hope you enjoyed the Sens game!

I checked out Dolanaar tonight, and it *is* empty.  Well, I added a single Darnassus sentry to wander around now, but any of the quest giving npc's, killable npc's, etc are all gone.  No spawn points anywhere near Dolanaar.  If you go down the road to Darnassus though, you'll find it teaming with people.

Problem is, most of Teldrassil seems pretty devoid of life.  So let's just say there was a plague (Maybe the same one the Forsaken have been concocting) that ripped through Teldrassil.  Somehow you were spared.  I guess you're too low a level to leave the island, eh?  They're all level 15+ npc's on the mainland near there.  Maybe you should play a different character type until Teldrassil has recovered?

Won't be fixed by my hand though.  I'm not going through and restoring spawn points one by one.  Next server upgrade should have it restored.
Posted by: Trarman (Guest), March 20, 2006, 3:58am; Reply: 37
I've checked most of Teldrassil and it's mostly empty, except for Darnassus.  I've also managed to re-add the hippogryph master in Rut'Theran Village so you can get off the island without having to use whatever Portal is in Darnassus (whereever that takes you).

The ship from Auberdine to Rut'Theran appears to work, but flying (or portalling) seems to be the only way off the island.
