Kitchener Council has decided to remove the extraneous 3rd lane of the dreaded Homer-Watson / Blockline roundabout.  This lane will cost $150,000 to remove, when it only took $50,000 to build it in the first place.

Ummm... how expensive would it be to move some painted lines, or build a guard rail?  If they're looking at a $150,000 solution, they're probably looking at something overly complicated, especially since they'll probably want to bring back the third lane 15 years from now!

While I always support the removal (in any capacity) of these stupid traffic circles, since the region is only going to build MORE (more traffic circles in general but more significantly more 3-lane versions), why the hell would they waste the money to remove it when they already know it will be needed down the road?  When elected do these people suddenly lose every ounce of long-term vision?
