Finally a Transformers movie I enjoyed. Bumblebee is a prequel to the rest of the Michael Bay Transformers movies, but doesn't repeat all the problems I had with them.
- The robots aren't just a jagged mess of grey metal
- The camera actually pulls back enough to see the robots during combat, so you can follow it
- Although predictable, the story had some emotional depth
- I actually laughed out loud at some of the gags
The
Good: A decent Transformers movie with character
The
Bad: The diving bit felt tacked on, I felt there could have been better connected justification
The
Ugly: "I like the way they pop" - gross, but fitting
Is Bumblebee worth watching? Yes. And don't watch any others.
