As you are likely aware, Equifax was hacked back in July and 143 million accounts were leaked. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-41192163 (http://www.bbc.com/news/business-41192163)
They have kindly set up a web site for their customers to see if they were among the leaked accounts. https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com/ (https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com/) Before you check though, be warned that the terms and conditions explicitly waive your right to sue (or join a class action suit) against Equifax. The company has actually lobbied to kill protections for victims of data breaches! http://www.ibtimes.com/political-capital/equifax-lobbied-kill-rule-protecting-victims-data-breaches-2587929 (http://www.ibtimes.com/political-capital/equifax-lobbied-kill-rule-protecting-victims-data-breaches-2587929)
And although they claim not to have been aware, executives at Equifax dumped over a million dollars of their stock prior to announcing the breach. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/equifax-executives-sold-stock-after-data-breach-before-informing-public-2017-09-07 (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/equifax-executives-sold-stock-after-data-breach-before-informing-public-2017-09-07)

Equifax was even hacked five months prior to the event above. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-18/equifax-is-said-to-suffer-a-hack-earlier-than-the-date-disclosed (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-18/equifax-is-said-to-suffer-a-hack-earlier-than-the-date-disclosed)
Furthermore they'll apparently just blindly say you were affected, no matter what you enter on their "Was my account hacked" page. https://techcrunch.com/2017/09/08/psa-no-matter-what-you-write-equifax-may-tell-you-youve-been-impacted-by-the-hack/ (https://techcrunch.com/2017/09/08/psa-no-matter-what-you-write-equifax-may-tell-you-youve-been-impacted-by-the-hack/)
