Take that patchserver line out. You have to remain at the same patch level as the server or else you won't be able to connect. Also, you shouldn't use the launcher. Whatever it is you click to start warcraft, right click it instead at look at properties. If "target" ends with Launcher.exe change it to wow.exe (make sure you leave the rest of the line intact). When you're at the login screen, look in the bottom left corner. What version does it say you are running?
It sounds like you've updated your client to 2.1.0. You'll have to revert back to an older version, and I'm sorry, the only way to do that is painful. 1) Delete WoW.exe 2) Run repair.exe (This should take you back to version 2.0.0 or 2.0.1 3) Download each of the patches for windows from my Diddlycraft pages and install them in order.
In other news, I've applied some special fixes to the server today and can verify that rogue sneak works! I snuck into the heart of Gnomeron before someone saw me. Also, I have verified that creatures can't see through walls! I hung out in a building, knowing a giant spider was on the opposite side of the wall, but he never came through until I ducked outside the building.
Yah WoW updated itself earlier this week and I think the version we are using is not the same one you have... I changed the realmlist and it gave me an error message "unable to validate game version - this may be caused by file corruption or intereference of another program"
Let me guess, this means I need to reinstall, meaning I have to come back to KW with my computer before I can play again
I followed Diddly's instructions, and everything worked fine except for one thing: every time you install one of the patches, the desktop shortcut gets rewritten to link to the launcher again, and the launcher tries to start automatically after the patch install is done. The realmlist.wtf file also get rewritten automatically, so you have to be ready to hit the cancel button when the game tries to update after the install, and you have to edit both the desktop shortcut path, and the realmlist.wtf file again before you try to play the game. Otherwise you're right back in the same boat as before.
Hey Diddle Diddle... my character seems to be stuck.. I can't move her at all... I can click on everything but I cannot move or turn OR select my inventory (meaning I can't use my hearthstone)...
Sigh.. once again something has happened to mess up my character. This time I died.. and while I was returning to my corpse somehow my character died again (i.e. when I was a ghost suddenly my character died AGAIN)... now I'm stuck at my corpse... as in when I click the accept message for being dead it just leaves me at my body so I can't play.. I don't know why computers don't like me soo much..
At any rate, can you fix me up and put me in the Undercity again? Thanks.
Sigh... wasn't on for long again tonight when WoW experenced a fatal error and.. you guessed it... she's trapped again... This time she is trapped in the ground again, not stuck "dead" like last time.. I wonder what I did in a former life to have computers dislike me so much!
No rush I guess since it seems she can't stay unstuck for more than a couple days straight But I DO want to unstick her again.. dammit.. it took me forever to build her up to lvl 32, I can't just abandon her... maybe when I finish up this series of missions I'll vacate Hillbrad.. seems all bad things happen in this area!
